The Court Security Section works under the authority of the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office Detention Division. Court Security is based at the Court Holding Facility. Sheriff Deputies secure inmates in holding rooms while they are waiting to appear in court, after their court appearance, and while they await return to the Detention Center. This section works with the Transportation Deputies and is staffed with a Lieutenant, a Sergeant and 16 deputy sheriffs, which are funded by the courts. This section is tasked with providing security for the court, judges, courthouse staff and the public. Over 269,000 people enter the main courthouse annually serviced by an additional three satellite courts: Department Nine Superior Court, Family Court, and Traffic Court.
